How we write and check our guides
Seayora publishes guides for landlords, property managers, renters and contractors, and state-by-state answers on renting rules. They are written by the Seayora Editorial Team, the people who build Seayora’s rent, leasing, accounting and compliance tools. These are the rules every article is held to.
Every figure has a source
- A number or a rule links to the primary source it comes from: the statute, the IRS publication, the agency page or the court decision.
- Every guide that states a tax, legal or compliance rule lists its sources at the end.
- Where a state has no statute for a rule, our state answers say nothing rather than publish a customary figure as law.
Dates mean what they say
- Published is the day an article first appeared.
- Updated is the day of its last substantive edit.
- Facts checked is the day a person last read the article’s facts against its sources, and it changes only when that happens.
Who writes and reviews
- Guides are written by the Seayora Editorial Team.
- A guide names an individual reviewer only when a named, credentialed person has actually reviewed it.
Partners and disclosure
- When a guide mentions a company that pays Seayora, such as a referral partner, the relationship is disclosed beside the link and the link is marked as sponsored.
News briefs
- A news brief is written from one official announcement, by a city, state or federal agency, and quotes it in the agency’s own words.
- Every brief links to the original announcement first among its sources, and adds only standing rules that link to their own sources.
- A brief is written by the Seayora Newsroom, names no reviewer and carries no facts-checked date, because no person has checked it against the law.

What these guides are not
They are general information, not legal, tax or financial advice. Laws change and situations differ, so confirm anything you will act on with an attorney, a CPA or an enrolled agent.
