Acceptable use and community standards
This policy applies to everything you do on Seayora: messages, calls and voice notes; listings, photographs and descriptions; applications, leases and documents; reviews, profiles and company pages; and anything you send through our API or a connected assistant. It is part of the Terms of Service, and breaking it is breaking the Terms.
If somebody is in danger right now
Call 911. Seayora is not an emergency service, nobody is monitoring messages in real time, and a report to us is read in hours, not seconds. The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is free and confidential 24/7 — call or text 988. The National Domestic Violence Hotline is 1-800-799-7233.
What is never allowed
You must not use Seayora to do, attempt, encourage or help anyone else to do any of the following.
- Violence, threats and extremism — threatening to kill, injure or otherwise harm a person or their family; planning, promoting or providing instructions for violence, terrorism or mass harm; supporting a violent extremist organisation; stalking or intimidating somebody
- Harm to children — sharing, requesting, producing or linking to child sexual abuse material; sexualising a minor; attempting to contact, groom or solicit one
- Harassment and abuse
- Discrimination, including anything that breaks fair housing law
- Fraud and deception
- Exploitation
- Illegal goods and other misuse of the platform
What we do about it
We start with the narrowest measure that works. In order — and each of these is a restriction the platform can actually impose.
- A warning — we tell you what crossed the line and expect it to stop
- Content removed — a listing, a photograph, a message or a review comes down
- No new conversations — you can still reply to every thread you are already in, including your landlord, your tenant and your contractor
- No attachments — messages but no photographs, video, documents or voice notes
- No calling — you cannot place or receive calls on Seayora
- No contact with one named person, in either direction; neither of you can lift it
- No messaging at all
- Account closed — your legal and financial records are kept as the Privacy Policy describes
Reporting, appeals and automated checks
- Anything on Seayora can be reported, and a report is read by a person
- Every restriction can be appealed, and an appeal is never decided by the person who imposed it
- Automated checks flag content for review; in the most serious categories they can never impose a restriction on their own
- We respond to valid law enforcement and legal requests, and tell you where the law allows it
