How long does a landlord have to return a security deposit in Maryland?
In Maryland, a landlord has 45 days after the tenancy ends to return the security deposit, together with an itemised statement of any deductions. Maryland also requires interest to be paid on the deposit: Simple interest at the greater of 1.5 % or the Federal Reserve discount rate, on deposits of $50 or more. This is Md. Code, Real Prop. § 8-203.
