Dispatch Notifications

Which events tell whom, through which channel, what quiet hours do and do not hold, and exactly what “push” means on each device.

Work → Routes & dispatch → Notifications is where you decide who hears about what. Every event in the list is real — each one is raised by something in Seayora, and an event you switch off is not sent at all.

The three channels, and what each one actually does

  • In-app: a note in the person’s Seayora Alerts thread. On a phone with the Seayora app installed this also arrives as a notification on the lock screen.
  • Email: a plain email to the address on their account.
  • Text message: only reaches people who have a mobile number on their Seayora account.

Seayora does not use browser push notifications. In a web browser, alerts appear inside the app itself; lock-screen notifications need the Seayora app on iOS or Android. The “Who can be reached” table shows, per person, which of the three can actually reach them today — including when the answer is “no app installed”.

Who hears about it

Each event can go to the person it is about, the owner, your dispatchers and managers, or the whole roster. Most events want the first one; an injury report usually wants the second as well.

Quiet hours

Quiet hours hold email and text messages until the window ends. The in-app note is still written, so nothing is lost and the person opens the app to a full record. Urgent events — an emergency job, an injury, a failed safety check — cross quiet hours by default, and you can turn that off per event.

Escalation

Set “Tell the owner if nobody responds” on any event and Seayora waits that many minutes for an acknowledgement, then tells the owner. Escalation always goes to the owner, whatever the event’s normal audience is — escalating back to the person who did not respond is the one audience that cannot help.

Testing

Every event has a “Send me a test”. It goes to you and nobody else, on every channel that event is set to use, and it tells you if a channel failed and why — “no mobile number on file” is a different problem from “the gateway refused it”. If quiet hours are active the test is sent anyway, and says so, so a quiet window does not read as a broken channel.

What is never withheld

These are operational notifications about work, not marketing, so nothing here is held back by a marketing preference. A technician is always told about work assigned to them.

Frequently asked questions

I turned on push and nothing arrives on my laptop.

That is expected. Lock-screen notifications need the Seayora app on a phone. In a browser, the same alerts appear inside Seayora itself.

Why did an email go out during my quiet hours?

Because the event was an urgent one — an emergency job, an injury report or a failed safety check — and “Send this through quiet hours” is on for it. Turn that off on the event if you would rather it waited.

Can I set a different rule per technician?

Not per person. Rules are per event, per company; the audience setting is what decides who receives each one.

What counts as “acknowledged” for escalation?

Acting on the thing — opening and accepting the job it was about. Reading the notification is not enough.
