Payroll & 1099 Filing Partners
The companies Seayora introduces you to for payroll and information returns, what the relationship is, and how Seayora is paid.
Seayora does not run your payroll and does not file your 1099s. What it does is introduce you to companies that do, and — where it says so on the screen — it is paid a referral fee when you sign up with one of them.
What the relationship is
Your account is with the provider, not with Seayora. You sign up directly, you pay them directly, and everything after that — the pricing, the support, the filing, the liability — is between the two of you. Seayora is not a party to it and cannot see inside it.
Why it works this way
- Filing an information return needs your full taxpayer identification number. Seayora deliberately stores only the last four digits of one, and would have to start holding whole ones to file for you.
- Remitting somebody’s payroll withholding is a regulated act with penalties attached. Introducing you to a company that does it is not.
- You keep whatever payroll you already have. Most contractors have one, and being asked to move it is a reason not to use a feature.
How Seayora is paid, and how you can tell
Every provider on the screen carries one of two lines. If Seayora is in that company’s referral programme, you see a “Seayora partner” badge, a sentence saying what Seayora is paid, and the disclosure that company requires. If it is not, you see “Not a partner” and a line saying plainly that Seayora is paid nothing if you sign up — and the button opens their ordinary website with no tracking attached.
What leaves Seayora when you click
A code that identifies the referral, and nothing else. Your name, your email, your business details and anything in your books stay here. If the provider wants those, you type them into the provider’s own form.
What Seayora can and cannot see afterwards
Almost nothing. These programmes report sign-ups in their own dashboards; there is no feed back to us. So a referral sits at “introduced” until either you tell us what happened — there are two buttons for it — or somebody at Seayora matches it against the provider’s own statement. The screen says which of those it is rather than pretending to know.
What is still yours in Seayora
The 1099 worksheet does not go away. Seayora still builds the list from your books, applies the right threshold for the year the money moved, excludes the card and app payments the processor reports instead of you, and exports a CSV — for your accountant, or to import into whichever filing provider you chose.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to use one of these?
No. They are recommendations. The 1099 worksheet and CSV export work whether or not you sign up with anybody.
Does Seayora get paid if I pick a provider that is not listed?
No. And nothing about the listing order is bought — what Seayora is paid, where it is paid, is on the card.
Can Seayora see my payroll once I sign up?
No. There is no connection between your provider account and Seayora unless you set one up separately.
I signed up. Do I need to tell Seayora?
Only if you want to — it helps us reconcile, and it is how the screen stops asking. Nothing about your account depends on it.
