When Seayora asks you to review the app
What triggers the request, how often it can happen, when we deliberately never ask, and how to switch it off everywhere at once.
Every app asks you to rate it. Most of them ask at the worst possible moment — halfway through something, or straight after something went wrong. This page says exactly when Seayora asks, how often, and when it deliberately does not, so the answer is checkable rather than a promise.
When we ask
Only after a real piece of work has finished, and only the person who finished it:
- A tenant, once they have signed their lease. Their part is done at that point — we do not wait for the landlord to countersign, because that is somebody else’s work and may be days away.
- A landlord or a property manager, when a lease is fully executed.
- A contractor — or whichever member of their team actually took the payment — when a card charge has settled and the money has arrived. Never when it was merely submitted, and never on a bank transfer, which can be returned days later.
- A property owner, when a distribution has been paid out to them.
How often
- At most twice in any twelve months, and never twice within about two months.
- Never twice about the same event — one lease, one payment, one payout, one ask.
- The limit follows your account, not your device. Being asked on your phone means you are not asked on the website.
- A moment goes stale. If you do not open Seayora for a few days after it happens it simply expires and you are not asked at all — a question about something you have stopped thinking about is not worth asking.
On an iPhone and on Android the operating system enforces its own limit on top of ours, and never tells us whether it actually showed you anything. So our own records say “we asked”, never “you saw it”.
When we never ask
This is the part that matters more than the trigger. We do not ask when:
- You have a support conversation open. You are in the middle of a problem; that is not the moment for a favour.
- There is a rent payment of yours that is late, failed or returned.
- Your account is the subject of an open safety report, or is under a restriction.
- Your account is marked do-not-contact, or is closing.
- We could not check any of the above. If the check itself fails nobody is asked — a wrongly timed request for a public rating is not something an apology fixes.
What we record
- That something happened worth asking about, and which of the four it was.
- That we asked, on which platform, and on which version of the app.
- What you did with it, where we can tell — opened the store listing, sent us feedback instead, closed it, or asked never to be asked again.
We never see what you wrote in a review, or whether you left one at all. App Store and Play reviews are between you and Apple or Google; nothing about them comes back to us, and nothing you write there is connected to your Seayora account by us.
Turning it off
Two ways, and both last until you change them back:
- “Don’t ask me again” on the prompt itself, on the website.
- Settings → Review prompts on the iPhone and Android apps, and Settings → Your data → Review prompts on the website.
It applies to your account everywhere at once — the website, the iPhone app and the Android app — and it takes effect immediately, including for anything already queued.
If your answer is “no, actually”
The prompt on the website always offers to take it privately instead, and that is deliberate: a public rating box is the wrong place to report a problem, and we would rather fix the thing. Contact support and a person reads it.
