Reply reminders: when somebody is waiting on you
Seayora reminds landlords, property managers and contractors when a resident or customer has been waiting hours for a reply or a repair request has not been acknowledged — when it reminds you, how often, and how to switch it off.
Most delays are not anybody refusing to answer — they are a message that arrived while you were on a job. Reply reminders tell you, in your Seayora Alerts and on your phone, when somebody has been waiting on you.
What you are reminded about
| Waiting | First reminder | Second reminder |
|---|---|---|
| A conversation where a resident, owner, prospective renter or customer wrote last and you have not read it | After 4 hours | After a day |
| A repair request a resident filed that nobody has acknowledged | After 4 hours (1 hour if it is marked urgent or an emergency) | After a day |
| For a contracting company with technicians: a job on the board that nobody has been assigned to (the owner is reminded) | After 4 hours (1 hour if it is marked urgent or an emergency) | After a day |
One reminder lists everything waiting, by first name — “Marcus (Apt 4B), Dana and 2 more” — so six waiting conversations are one notification, not six. You get at most one reminder of each kind every three hours, except for urgent work.
A contractor who works alone is never reminded about unassigned jobs: with nobody else on the team, the jobs are yours to do, not to assign.
When it does not remind you
- Before 8 in the morning or after 8 in the evening, in your own time zone. An urgent repair request or job is the exception.
- During the quiet hours you set for messages, or while you are on Do not disturb.
- About a conversation you muted, archived or set to no notifications.
- When the last message is a short thank-you or “OK” with no question in it.
- About anything older than three days.
Switch it off
Settings → Notifications → Reply reminders, on the website, the iPhone or Android. Off means no reminder at all — nothing is kept in your Alerts either.
What a reminder does not do
It does not reply for you, mark anything read, change a repair request or tell the other person anything. Answering the message, or acknowledging the repair request, is what stops the reminders.
For the Seayora support desk
Support reps are reminded when a customer’s chat has had no reply from the desk for 30 minutes — the assigned rep first, then the reps on duty. Every morning at 8 (New York time) the support mailbox gets a count of what is waiting: unanswered chats, callbacks past the day the customer asked for, and tickets nobody has touched in two days.
