Views and saves on your listing

What the view count on your listing actually counts, how saves are tracked, and why the two numbers matter separately.

Every published listing carries two numbers: how many times it was viewed, and how many people have saved it to Desired Homes. They come from the website, the Android app and the iPhone app, counted the same way in all three.

What counts as a view

Somebody opening your listing. One person counts once per listing per hour, however many times they open it in that hour — so going back and forth between your listing and the search results does not inflate the number, and neither does refreshing the page.

This is a deliberate change from how it used to work. Previously every page load counted, which meant the number included refreshes, back-button returns and link previews.

Views and viewers are different numbers

NumberWhat it answers
ViewsHow many times the listing was opened.
ViewersHow many different people opened it.
SavesHow many people added it to Desired Homes in the period.
Currently savedHow many people still have it saved right now.

400 views from 40 people and 400 views from 380 people say opposite things about an advertisement, which is why both are shown. The same is true of saves: twelve saves and nine currently saved means three people changed their mind.

What you never see

Who viewed your listing. Views are counts. Seayora does not tell you the name, email, device or location of anyone who looked at your advertisement, and there is no setting that turns that on.

Where to find them

  • On the listing itself, in your portfolio.
  • Broken down by day, and by which surface the views came from — web, Android or iPhone.

Frequently asked questions

Do my own visits to my listing count?

Yes — the counter does not know whose listing it is. If you check your own advertisement several times a day it will add up over time, at most once an hour.

Do crawlers and link previews count?

A crawler that fetches the page without a browser session is deduped like any other viewer and counts at most once an hour. It is not a perfect filter; treat the trend over days as the signal rather than any single day.

Why did my view count change after this update?

The counter now deduplicates repeat opens within an hour. Historical totals were not rewritten, so a listing may show a slower rate from the change onwards than it did before.

Does a tenant declining data collection reduce my numbers?

No. Aggregate view and save counts are recorded regardless — they never identify the viewer. What a tenant’s privacy choice controls is whether their own activity is linked to their account for their benefit, such as saved homes syncing between devices.

Is a save the same as an enquiry?

No. A save means somebody has bookmarked the listing to come back to. It is a signal of interest, not a message, and they have not contacted you.
