Home Screen Widgets (iOS & Android)
Put rent, repairs, jobs, money and messages on your phone's home screen or Lock Screen, refreshed automatically — which widgets each account type gets, how to add them, and what they show when you are signed out.
The Seayora apps for iPhone and Android ship a set of home-screen widgets: small cards that show the one number you keep opening the app for — rent due, collections this month, today's jobs, unread messages — without opening it. Tap any widget and the app opens on the matching screen. Which widgets you see depends on your account type: a tenant gets rent and repairs, an owner gets collections and occupancy, a contractor gets today's jobs and invoices.
Adding a widget
- In the app, open Tools → Widgets (also under Settings). Every widget is drawn as a picture of the card itself — with your own numbers in it where we already have them, and example figures (clearly labelled as examples) where we do not.
- Android: tap Add on any widget and your launcher asks where to put it. A few launchers do not support that; on those the button is not shown, and you long-press an empty part of the home screen, choose Widgets and pick Seayora.
- iPhone: long-press an empty part of the Home Screen, tap the + button, search for Seayora, choose a size and tap Add Widget. For the Lock Screen, long-press the Lock Screen, tap Customize, then tap the area under the clock and pick Seayora.
- Both phones show a picture of each widget in the picker before you place it, so you are choosing between cards rather than between names.
- Most widgets come in small, medium and large. The bigger the widget, the more it shows — a small card is the headline number, a medium one adds the figures beside it and a row, and a large one adds more rows.

How often it refreshes
Widgets refresh on their own roughly every half hour, and every time you open the app, sign in, or pay something. The phone decides the exact moment; iOS and Android both budget widget refreshes to protect battery, so a widget can be a few minutes behind the app. Each widget shows when it was last updated, and a widget that could not reach Seayora keeps showing the last good numbers with a "couldn't refresh" note rather than zeros.
Privacy on a lock screen
- A widget shows information from your account to anyone who can see your phone's screen. Add a widget to the Lock Screen only if you are comfortable with that.
- Widgets never show an email address, a phone number or a card number. People are shown by first name; a visitor from the website is shown as "Website visitor".
- Turn on "Hide amounts" in the widget gallery and every dollar figure is masked on the widget itself, on both phones and straight away — you still see it in the app. It belongs to the handset rather than the account, so it stays on if somebody else signs in on the same phone.
- When you sign out, every widget clears immediately and shows "Sign in to Seayora". Nothing from the previous account remains on screen.
- The last snapshot is kept on the phone, in storage only the Seayora app and its widgets can read, so the widget can paint instantly. It is deleted on sign-out. See the Privacy Policy for the full description.
Widgets meant for other account types
Some widgets only make sense for one kind of account: Occupancy and Applications are for landlords and property managers, My Lease is for tenants, Time Clock and Invoices are for contractors. On Android those are kept out of your home screen's widget list altogether, so everything you can see there will actually do something. On iPhone that list is fixed by iOS and cannot be filtered, so a widget that is not yours says who it IS for on the preview card, before you place anything.
Either way they stay listed in the in-app gallery under "Not for this account", with a picture and a line naming who they are for. A widget you cannot see at all is indistinguishable from one Seayora does not have, which is the more misleading of the two.
Frequently asked questions
Do widgets work on a tablet or on the website?
They are a phone feature: iPhone (iOS 16 and later, Lock Screen widgets on iOS 16+) and Android 8 and later. The website has no home screen; the same numbers are on each dashboard.
Can I add the same widget twice?
Yes — add it in two sizes, or the same size on two pages. Each copy shows the same account.
Why does the widget show an older number than the app?
The phone refreshes widgets on a budget. Opening the app refreshes them immediately; so does "Refresh now" in the gallery.
Can a widget pay rent or change anything?
No. Widgets only show information. Tapping one — or tapping a button on the Quick Actions widget — opens the app on the right screen, where every action still needs your confirmation.
Are the numbers in the widget picker real?
The picture your phone shows while you are choosing uses your own latest numbers when the app has already fetched them, and clearly-labelled example figures otherwise — before you have signed in, for instance. The in-app gallery says which of the two you are looking at on every card.
