Using the Seayora app as a contractor or technician
The time clock, On my way and live arrival times, the photo a job may need before you clock out, charging a customer from a job, and working with no signal.
This guide is for service pros and their technicians using the Seayora app on an iPhone or an Android phone. A company owner and a technician see slightly different tabs, shown below.
Signing in
Use the same account you use on seayora.com. Both apps take your email and password, or Continue with Google. The iPhone app also offers Sign in with Apple and signing in with a passkey; the Android app does not. If you made your account with Apple and want to use an Android phone, choose “Forgot password?” once on the sign-in screen to set a password, and both ways work from then on.
If you were in the middle of something when you were asked to sign in, such as opening a link from an email, the app takes you straight back to it afterwards.
The app lock
The first time you sign in on a phone, the app offers a lock: a four-digit PIN or a pattern, with Face ID or your fingerprint as the quick way in if your phone has one. The PIN or pattern stays on the phone and is never sent to Seayora. “Not now” is a real answer, and you can set or change the lock later under Settings.
Five wrong tries signs you out of the app. Nothing is lost: sign in again and choose a new lock.
Finding your way around
The app has the same five tabs as your account on the website, so a page you know on a laptop is in the same place on the phone. The bar uses the short names shown in brackets.
| Tab | What is in it |
|---|---|
| Dashboard (Home), owners | Today’s jobs, money in and out, and what needs you. |
| Time clock, technicians | Clock in and out, breaks, and your hours this week. It is the first tab a technician sees. |
| Work | The time clock, active jobs, the schedule and calendar, and for owners the team, timesheets and pay. |
| Finance, owners | Take a payment, quick charge, charge history, invoices and tax, payouts and the books. |
| Tools, technicians | The tools your company has given you access to. |
| Communications (Messages) | Every conversation with customers and your team. |
| Settings | Your profile, notifications, the app lock and security. |
To find anything by name, use search on the Home tab. Settings → All tools lists everything the app carries for your account.
Starting the day
Open the time clock and clock in against the job you are starting. Your company may set rules on the clock: that you are near the job, that your phone confirms it is you with your face, fingerprint or passcode, or that you take a photo of the finished work before you clock out. A clock-out is never refused for being away from the job. See “The Time Clock”.
On my way
Every job assigned to you has an On my way button on the time clock. Tap it when you set off, and the customer gets a link showing how many minutes away you are. They never see where you are or a map. Tap I have arrived when you get there; you are also marked arrived when you clock in on the job. See “On My Way & Live Arrival Times”.
Photos on the job
Photos taken in the app keep when and where they were taken. When your company asks for a photo of the finished work, the time clock says so when you clock in, and you take it there as you finish.
Charging the customer
Open the job and choose Charge for this job, or use Finance → Take a payment. The job site and the customer are filled in, the sales tax is worked out line by line, and you take the card or send a pay link. You see the total, the tax and what you receive before you charge. See “Charging a Customer Quickly”.
On the lock screen
While you are clocked in, an iPhone shows a live activity and an Android phone shows an ongoing notification, both with your time running. Neither shows a customer’s name or address. If you travel between jobs, the app can also remind you to clock in when you arrive at one; it is off until you turn it on, and Seayora is not sent your location for it.
When there is no signal
What you do with no signal is saved on the phone and sends itself when you are back on a network. A strip at the top of the app says how many things are waiting; tap it to see them. Paying, approving a sign-in and calls are the exceptions, because they only mean something at the moment they happen, and the app says so instead of queuing them.
Frequently asked questions
I clocked out with no signal. Is my time right?
Yes. The clock-out is saved with the time you did it and sends when you are back on a network. A clock-out at 5:02 sent at 6:40 is a 5:02 clock-out.
Can a customer see where I am?
No. The On my way link shows how many minutes away you are and when that last updated, never your position. Your location is erased when you arrive or the trip ends.
Can I start a shift on my phone and end it on a laptop?
Yes. There is one open shift per person, whichever device started it.
